The Prince Course at Princeville is now completely private as part of North Shore Preserve. Access is restricted to homeowners and their invited guests. No public green fees are available. Real estate ownership at North Shore Preserve is required for course access. Homesites start at over $1 million.
Is The Prince Course open to the public?
No. The Prince Course closed to public play at the end of 2014. It reopened around 2020 as North Shore Preserve, an ultra-private residential community operated by Discovery Land Company. Only homeowners and their personally invited guests may play.

After closing in 2014, the course underwent a $500M redevelopment by Discovery Land Company. All 18 holes were completely redesigned and it reopened around 2020 as North Shore Preserve. The course now operates under a unique 'golf-plus' model where homeowners have access without dedicated memberships, and the property is shared with hikers, bikers, and adventure seekers.

The Prince Course was once ranked as the #1 course in Hawaii by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, and reached as high as #22 on Golf Digest's 'America's 100 Greatest Public Courses.' It was one of only two Hawaii courses on Golf Digest's combined 'America's 100 Greatest Courses' list.
Who designed The Prince Course?
The original course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in phases in 1987 and 1990. RTJ II completed a major renovation in 2012. When Discovery Land Company redeveloped the property, they completely redesigned all 18 holes while maintaining the routing's fundamental character.
Can I visit The Prince Course clubhouse?
The North Shore House clubhouse is partially open to the public for food and light provisions, but the golf course itself is strictly gated and private. You can visit the clubhouse area but cannot access the course without being a homeowner or invited guest.
